Reports To: Senior Mechanic

Job Summary:

The Tractor Junior Mechanic will support the inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of tractors and agricultural machinery used across the estate. The role will work closely with senior mechanics to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and available for daily farm operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with routine servicing, maintenance, and repair of tractors and agricultural machinery.
• Support diagnosis and repair of basic mechanical, engine, transmission, hydraulic, and braking-system faults.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and identify worn or damaged components.
• Assist senior mechanics during major repairs, overhauls, and equipment breakdowns.
• Replace filters, lubricants, belts, hoses, bearings, and other service components as required.
• Maintain workshop tools and keep assigned work areas clean and safe.
• Record completed maintenance and report equipment faults to the Workshop Supervisor.
• Follow established maintenance procedures and workshop safety requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Agricultural Mechanics, Plant Mechanics, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in tractor, agricultural machinery, automotive, or heavy-equipment maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and tractor components.
• Practical mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Ability to use workshop tools and equipment safely.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and work effectively with senior mechanics.
• Experience maintaining agricultural tractors and farm machinery will be an added advantage.
