Job Summary:
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing the acquisition of goods and services essential to the travel and tourism business. This includes negotiating contracts, sourcing suppliers, ensuring cost efficiency, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. The role requires strong analytical skills, vendor management expertise, and a deep understanding of the travel and tourism sector.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
- Supplier sourcing and evaluation: Identify, assess, and onboard reliable vendors for travel-related services (transport, accommodation, catering, excursions).
- Contract negotiation: Secure favorable terms and agreements with suppliers while ensuring quality and compliance.
- Budget management: Monitor procurement budgets, optimize costs, and ensure alignment with organizational financial goals.
- Inventory and supply chain oversight: Manage stock levels of travel essentials (tickets, promotional materials, equipment) and streamline supply chain operations.
- Compliance assurance: Ensure procurement activities adhere to legal, ethical, and sustainability standards within the tourism industry.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Work closely with operations, finance, and customer service teams to align procurement with business needs.
- Market research: Stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and emerging suppliers to maintain a competitive advantage.
- Performance reporting: Prepare regular procurement reports and provide insights to management for strategic decision-making.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years in procurement, preferably within travel, tourism, or hospitality.
- Familiarity with travel and tourism operations, including airlines, hotels, and tour operators.
- Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and MS Office Suite.
- Analytical ability: Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and cost-analysis skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication for supplier and stakeholder engagement.
- Commitment to transparency, integrity, and sustainable procurement practices.
