Senior Irrigation Engineer

Job Summary:
The Senior Irrigation Engineer will be responsible for planning and leading the irrigation system for the sugarcane cultivation area, using sprinkler and center-pivot irrigation methods. The role will oversee the design and implementation of irrigation infrastructure, water conveyance and distribution systems, pumping systems, drainage planning, system performance, maintenance planning, budgeting, and supervision of the irrigation technical team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead the irrigation system for the sugarcane cultivation area, using sprinkler/center-pivot irrigation methods.
- Propose the design of irrigation works, including water intake structures, bulk water conveyance systems, pumping and booster pumping systems, head unit design, and water distribution network layout.
- Prepare project materials, technical specifications, and cost estimates for irrigation works.
- Develop manpower plans and supervise the irrigation technical team, including the Pumping Mechanic, Irrigation Electrician, Pivot Mechanic, High-Pressure Welder, Pipe Fitter, and Plumber.
- Identify access to water sources.
- Design and oversee implementation of the drainage plan for the irrigation area.
- Develop structural works and/or maintenance plans for irrigation infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure efficient water use across the scheme.
- Prepare regular progress and operational reports for management.
- Carry out estimation and budget preparation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation Engineering & Water Management, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the installation, operation, and maintenance of irrigation systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of sprinkler and center-pivot irrigation systems and hydraulics.
- Strong knowledge of pump and pumping-station design.
- Demonstrated project planning and budgeting capabilities.
- Strong team leadership and supervision skills.
- Good report-writing skills.
