Irrigation Electrician

Reports To: Senior Irrigation Engineer
Job Summary:
The Irrigation Electrician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and control panels supporting center-pivot irrigation units and associated pumping stations. The role will focus on ensuring reliable and safe operation of irrigation electrical infrastructure through preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and coordination with the wider irrigation technical team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems and control panels for center-pivot irrigation units and associated pumping stations.
- Carry out wiring, motor-control, and automation/control-panel maintenance for pivot and sprinkler systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults on pivot drive motors, control boxes, sensors, and safety switches.
- Perform routine electrical safety checks and preventive maintenance on all irrigation electrical infrastructure.
- Coordinate with the Pivot Mechanic and Pumping Mechanic on integrated electro-mechanical maintenance.
- Maintain electrical maintenance records and ensure compliance with relevant safety standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Certificate/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent trade qualification.
- Valid electrical wiring/installation licence where applicable.
- 3–5 years of electrical installation and maintenance experience, with specific exposure to pivot irrigation electrical systems.
- Knowledge of pivot/sprinkler system electrical controls and motor-control circuits.
- Knowledge of low-voltage wiring.
- Strong and methodical electrical fault-diagnosis skills.
