Job Summary


CNS Group is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Customs and Clearing Officer to manage import and export clearance operations within the Oil & Gas industry. The role ensures timely clearance of equipment, machinery, and materials while maintaining full compliance with Tanzanian customs laws and regulatory requirements to avoid operational delays.


Key Responsibilities


  • Manage end-to-end customs clearance for imports and exports.
  • Prepare and submit all required documentation to TRA and relevant authorities.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, port authorities, and clearing agents.
  • Ensure timely clearance of Oil & Gas equipment, machinery, and project materials.
  • Verify HS codes, duty calculations, exemptions, and tax compliance.
  • Monitor cargo movement and resolve clearance bottlenecks.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies for permits, licenses, and approvals.
  • Ensure compliance with Tanzanian customs regulations and Oil & Gas sector requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of customs transactions and documentation.
  • Control costs related to duties, demurrage, and port charges.
  • Support audits and internal compliance reviews.
  • Monitor updates in customs regulations and advise management accordingly.


Qualifications & Requirements


Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Customs Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field.

Professional Customs Clearing certification (TRA recognized) is an added advantage.

Minimum 3–5 years of customs clearing experience.

Experience in Oil & Gas or heavy industry environment preferred.

Strong knowledge of Tanzanian customs procedures and TRA systems (e.g., TANCIS).

Experience handling import/export documentation and duty exemptions.

Strong understanding of shipping documents (Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List).

Strong coordination and negotiation skills.

Ability to work under pressure and manage time-sensitive shipments.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

High integrity and strong attention to detail.
